Intra‐Valve Elemental Distributions in Arctic Marine Ostracodes: Implications for Mg/Ca and Sr/Ca Paleothermometry

چکیده

Abstract Reconstructing intermediate and bottom‐water temperature in the Arctic Ocean is key for understanding paleoclimatic phenomena, such as region's interactions with warm Atlantic waters, stratification, sea‐ice dynamics. However, benthic proxy archives are sparse throughout circle compared to lower latitudes. Trace‐element ratios (E/Ca) derived from ostracodes, a group of bivalved microscopic crustaceans, have shown promise this regard. Samples E/Ca measurements typically require rigorous cleaning prior analysis, signs contamination routinely monitored through presence other trace elements Al, Fe, Mn, which associated suspected sources overprinting. there has not yet been an intra‐valve investigation all these elements, may hinder our ability effectively identify geochemical Here, we present several elemental concentration ratio two ostracode genera, Krithe Polycope , extracted Chukchi Sea sediment samples. We further investigate distribution within single shells adult juvenile specimens using electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Our findings suggest that brushing bleach treatments be effective completely eliminating clays edges valves, can bias paleoclimatologically relevant trace‐element proxies Mg/Ca ratios, particularly case incomplete or small samples low amounts calcite material. In addition, report first data genus shows potential new paleotemperature archive.

Elemental composition of marine Prochlorococcus and Synechococcus: Implications for the ecological stoichiometry of the sea

The elemental composition of marine cyanobacteria is an important determinant of the ecological stoichiometry in low-latitude marine biomes. We analyzed the cellular carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) contents of Prochlorococcus (MED4) and Synechococcus (WH8103 and WH8012) under nutrient-replete and P-starved conditions. Under nutrient-replete conditions, C, N, and P quotas (femtogram...

passivity in waiting for godot and endgame: a psychoanalytic reading

this study intends to investigate samuel beckett’s waiting for godot and endgame under the lacanian psychoanalysis. it begins by explaining the most important concepts of lacanian psychoanalysis. the beckettian characters are studied regarding their state of unconscious, and not the state of consciousness as is common in most beckett studies. according to lacan, language plays the sole role in ...

Pan-Arctic distributions of continental runoff in the Arctic Ocean

Continental runoff is a major source of freshwater, nutrients and terrigenous material to the Arctic Ocean. As such, it influences water column stratification, light attenuation, surface heating, gas exchange, biological productivity and carbon sequestration. Increasing river discharge and thawing permafrost suggest that the impacts of continental runoff on these processes are changing. Here, a...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...
